At Sail Barbary, your safety is always our top priority. Whether you're joining us for a relaxing sail to the Māori Rock Carvings or enjoying a refreshing swim stop, we’re fully equipped to keep you safe and confident on the water.
Life Jackets Onboard Our Electric Yacht
All passengers on Sail Barbary’s Lake Taupō cruises are given a thorough safety briefing before departure, which includes a clear explanation of where life jackets are stored and how to access them if needed.
Life jackets are offered to every passenger during the safety briefing
Passengers are shown exactly where life jackets are stored
Life jackets are available in a full range of sizes, from small children to larger adults
Sizing is based on weight, not age, to ensure proper fit and safety
Our crew is trained to assist with life jacket fitting at any time.
When Life Jackets Are Required
Our experienced skipper uses current weather conditions, forecast, and passenger comfort to decide when life jackets should be worn. They may be:
Issued to all passengers before departure if conditions require
Offered to any individual who requests one
Provided during swim stops, especially for guests who are less confident in the water
Safety Equipment Within Reach
In addition to life jackets, a life ring is located within one metre of the skipper at all times. This ensures immediate response in the unlikely event someone needs help in the water, whether during cruising or swimming.
Family-Friendly and Confident Sailing
Sail Barbary is proud to offer a safe, stable, and family-friendly experience on the water. From first-time sailors to seasoned adventurers, everyone can relax knowing that our electric yacht is fully equipped with Maritime NZ-audited safety gear, and that our skilled crew is trained in emergency response.
Whether you're here to soak up the views or take a dip in Lake Taupō, we’ll make sure you feel safe, supported, and informed every step of the way.
